HOLE DIGGING...for POOLS.

PLEASE NOTE...SOME OF THE WORDS IN THESE PREVIEW BOXES
HAVE BEEN DELETED FROM THE ORIGINAL TEXT ON THE CD-ROM. AND ARE SHOWN LIKE THIS...XXXXXXXXXXXX.

ALSO NOTE THAT MOST OF THE PICTURES ARE NOT IN THE SAME SEQUENCE AS THEY APPEAR ON THE CD-ROM. AND IN MOST CASES THEY DO NOT RELATE TO EACH OTHER IN THESE PREVIEWS.

This is what I mean by subtle, and then some!
To create something as convincingly natural as this requires preparation and the preparation is mostly in the hole digging techniques, and your choice of rock...which you are about to be shown, next XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Probably...no, make that definitely, one of the most important things to get right when constructing a water garden...is the hole.

I can imagine some of you laughing..."The hole, that's got to be the easiest part, all you've got to do is dig!"

Sorry, but get the hole wrong and you will always struggle.
So many people just dig without even thinking about ledges for Aquatic Plants, and how to disguise the liner.
So many times I've heard...XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX...

In this example which is much smaller...just 7' x 5', the "beach" effect I explained earlier, has been XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.
Why? Because in small pools you don't have the space to create a slope...well you could, but it would be so steep that all of the plants and the loose natural stones and gravel would slide XXXXXXXX

Here's two happy frogs and lots of snails. It's difficult to tell when a snail is happy...but they're living in one of my Wildlife Ponds so I suppose they must be.

BUT OF COURSE YOU'LL NEED TO BUY TO SEE THE REST!
And the "rest" amounts to eight chapters and almost 100 more pictures and detailed text like this and that's ONLY  how to dig the hole!
