Probably...no, make that definitely, one of the most important things to
get right when constructing a water garden...is the hole.
I can imagine some of you laughing..."The hole, that's got to be the easiest part, all you've got to do is dig!"
Sorry, but get the hole wrong and you will always struggle.
So many people just dig without even thinking about ledges for Aquatic Plants, and how to disguise the liner.

In this example which is much smaller...just 7' x 5', the "beach" effect I explained earlier, has been XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Why? Because in small pools you don't have the space to create a slope...well
you could, but it would be so steep that all of the plants and the loose natural
stones and gravel would slide XXXXXXXX

Here's two happy frogs and lots of snails. It's difficult to tell when a snail is happy...but they're living in one of my Wildlife Ponds so I suppose they must be.
